Northumberland
is a walkers paradise. Hadrian’s Wall, St. Cuthbert’s
Way, The Cheviot and Simonside Hills and our outstanding coastline.
Northumberland caters for all levels of walkers. Favorites
are:
The Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle coastal path (nominated
one of the best ten walks in the country).
A
seaside ramble from Bamburgh to Seahouses
Walking round Holy Island. Occasionally the times of
the tides allow you to spend an afternoon on the island
- when the tide is in. This allows you to really appreciate
the island.
Cragside
carriageway This lovely walk starts at Rothbury and follows
the old carriageway giving you some beautiful views of
Rothbury.
Many walks (from easy to tackling the Simonside Hills) can be
found on the Shepherds Walks website: www.shepherdswalks.co.uk
. The easy to follow and informative walks are written by local
shepherd Jon Monks and all start from a point where you can
park your car. Jon has also written a walk from The Old School,
so that guests can leave their car and saunter across the Northumberland
Moors.
